Summary: UNAVCO performed a survey to measure surface displacements in Beacon Valley which occur due to sub-surface ice beneath the valley floor. This survey, performed in January 2008 was a repeat of surveys taken from January 1999 through Dec 2002, with the intent of revealing surface velocities as small as 1 centimeter/year. With a five-season time series, any movement of the valley floor will be apparent. An 8-mark strain network, installed and surveyed near the lake at the head of Mullins Valley in 2002 was resurveyed in 2008. Three geodetic receiver systems, field support, data processing, and data archiving were provided. TAMDEF survey mark BEA4 on University Peak was used for the reference receiver location.
