Summary: The goal of this project is to reconstruct past ice sheet elevations in the Ohio Range in the southernmost Transantarctic Mountains near the onset region of the Mercer Ice Stream (formerly Ice Stream A). The group will use the information to better understand past ice sheet dynamics, including the possibility of gravitational collapse, in order to predict future ice sheet behavior. Two Trimble 5700 GPS receivers, training in data collection, data processing, and data archiving were provided by UNAVCO for mapping of glacial features.
