Summary: Dr. Renne's group is calibrating the production of cosmogenic argon in the McMurdo Dry Valleys to be used in a new type of dating procedure. Rock samples for dating were collected at several locations in the Dry Valleys and GPS data were collected at each location. The data are used to obtain precise elevations which will be used in the calibration process. UNAVCO provided one 4700 receiver, training, data processing, and archiving.
