Investigator:
PI: Rikk Kvitek
POC: Kathy Conlan
Institution: California State University Monterey Bay
Email: kconlanmus-nature.ca

Data Type:
DGPS

Dates:
11/96

Location:
Name: McMurdo Sound
Coordinates: 77 51 S 166 40 E
Radius: 10 km

Data Center:

Summary:
Dr. Kvitek requested two UNAVCO receivers and real-time radio equipment to augment his own GPS/GIS system. Although S-320 is entirely self sufficient for their GPS needs, UNAVCO equipment and support was requested since there were to be two simultaneous S-320 events, S-320A and S-320B. Both of these projects had GPS needs; one at McMurdo Station and one at Granite Harbor. The Granite Harbor project was cancelled at the last minute due to non-availability of ASA support. UNAVCO, however, was not made aware of this change until on the ice. As a result, support to S-320A (Kathy Conlan) was limited to providing coordinates of a few dive holes in the McMurdo area. This work was performed with the real-time differential system and required no post-processing of data.
