Coordinates: 77 45 S 166 00 E
Radius: 5 km

Data Center:

Summary:
Support was provided for an attempt to locate a mooring under the McMurdo Sound sea ice. GPS coordinates were available from when the mooring was deployed, and real-time GPS equipment was used to locate these coordinates. Since the original coordinates were obtained using a single handheld receiver, they were not differentially corrected and had an error of up to 100 meters. As a result, there was no guarantee the coordinates were exactly above the mooring. The mooring was never recovered.
