Summary: Dr. Inan operates a very low frequency monitoring experiment at Palmer Station, listening to energy ducted into the ionosphere principally by large storms in the northern hemisphere. The sensing antenna is located on top of a glacier near the station. Each year the Palmer research Associate takes a precise GPS measurement of the location of the antenna elements to correct for movement in the ice surface.
