Summary: Dr. Jefferies returned to the South Pole to re-activate the Jefferies Observatory. This experiment is set up to observe the velocity of magnetic fields at different heights in the sun's atmosphere during a time of rising solar activity. UNAVCO provided a Trimble NetRS GPS receiver that was used to precisely synchronize timing sequences within the observations.
