Summary: Dr. Scambos' group deployed to the Antarctic Peninsula to monitor a large iceberg as it drifts northward. The disintegration process of such an iceberg is thought to be similar to that of an ice shelf disintegrating due to a warmer climate, and thus will yield information about climate-related evolution of the Peninsula region. UNAVCO supplied three Trimble R7 campaign systems and training for this study. |
