2020 Communicating Science for Impact - University of South Florida

Date and time: Thursday, 30 January, 1:30pm-5:00pm
Location: University of South Florida Library, ViLab, Room 125G, Tampa, FL
Instructor: Beth Bartel, UNAVCO

Description: Effective communication, like any other skill, can be learned, practiced, and sharpened! This short workshop takes a hands-on approach to learning and practicing some of the tools of science communication, focusing on communication as a conversation. The skills practiced can be applied to all channels of communication, from a public lecture to a social media feed, and also improve teaching and networking. You will leave this workshop with an elevator speech about your research, exercises you can use in your own classes if you're an educator, and possibly even some new friends.

This workshop is beginner-friendly with something for scientists and communicators of all experience levels. No experience necessary!
