Acknowledgment of UNAVCO Support & Community Data Sets

Note: A community-developed UNAVCO Data Policy governs data archiving and access at UNAVCO.

NSF policy stipulates grantee responsibility for assuring acknowledgment of material based on or developed with NSF support in any publication, including web pages. In addition, NSF requires oral acknowledgment during all news media interviews. In some cases, the grants of UNAVCO community members or other data providers must also be cited or the disclaimer is also required. Your acknowledgment of UNAVCO support also provides a measure UNAVCO's success.

To acknowledge support or data products from the UNAVCO Facility:

"This material is based on [data, equipment, and/or engineering] services provided by the UNAVCO Facility with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under NSF Cooperative Agreement No. EAR-0735156."

To acknowledge services and/or equipment from Plate Boundary Observatory:

"This material is based on [data, equipment, and/or engineering] services provided by the Plate Boundary Observatory operated by UNAVCO for EarthScope (www.earthscope.org) and supported by the National Science Foundation No. EAR-0350028 and EAR-0732947."

To acknowledge services and/or equipment from the Continuously Operating Caribbean GPS Observational Network (COCONet):

"This material is based on [data, equipment, and/or engineering] services provided by the Continuously Operating Caribbean GPS Observational Network (COCONet) operated by UNAVCO for EarthScope (www.earthscope.org) and supported by the National Science Foundation No. EAR-1042906/9."

To acknowledge services and/or equipment from the Trans-boundary, Land and Atmosphere Long-term Observational and Collaborative Network (TLALOCnet):

"This material is based on [data, equipment, and/or engineering] services provided by the Trans-boundary, Land and Atmosphere Long-term Observational and Collaborative Network (TLALOCnet) operated by UNAVCO and supported by the National Science Foundation No. EAR-1338091."

To acknowledge support or data products from the UNAVCO GAGE (Geodesy Advancing Geosciences and EarthScope) Facility, including services and/or equipment from the EarthScope Plate Boundary Observatory:

"This material is based on [data, equipment, and/or engineering] services provided by UNAVCO through the GAGE Facility with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under NSF Cooperative Agreement No. EAR-1261833".

[or]

"This material is based on EarthScope Plate Boundary Observatory [data, equipment, and/or engineering] services provided by UNAVCO through the GAGE Facility with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under NSF Cooperative Agreement No. EAR-1261833."

To acknowledge UNAVCO’s Nepal Gorkha earthquake response, supported by GAGE:

“This work would not have been possible without the data sets acquired under two awards: (1) NSF EAR 1345136 to J.P. Avouac and N. Lapusta, at the California Institute of Technology (Galetzka et al., 2015); and (2) a NASA-funded supplement to the GAGE Facility award, under a request framed by J. P. Avouac for UNAVCO engineering support, data recovery and data services. UNAVCO is supported to operate the GAGE Facility by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under NSF Cooperative Agreement No. EAR-1261833. The geodetic array of Nepal's Department of Mines and Geology was constructed with Caltech start-up funds provided to Jean-Phillipe Avouac and support from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation for the Caltech Tectonics Observatory."

To acknowledge data or data products from NASA Global GNSS Network (GGN) or UNAVCO support for the IGS (International GNSS Service):

"The Global GNSS Network (GGN) is operated by UNAVCO at the direction of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with support from NASA under NSF Cooperative Agreement No. EAR-1261833."

To acknowledge UNAVCO support through Education & Community Engagement:

"This work is based on [materials, programs] provided by the UNAVCO Education and Community Engagement Program with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) under NSF Cooperative Agreement No. EAR-1261833."

For specific projects, please acknowledge these awards:

  • Results from Research Experiences in Solid Earth Science for Students (RESESS) internships: EAR-0914704
