Summary: The goal of the Antarctic Search for Meteorites (ANSMET) main team for the 2007-2008 field season is full-scale systematic meteorite recovery from icefields immediately west of the Miller Range in the central Transantarctic Mountains. These icefields were first visited briefly by helicopter in 1985, when a single meteorite was found. A second more extensive visit (a few days) in 1999 discovered ~30 meteorites, and detailed reconnaissance in 2003 yielded more than 200 specimens, including a martian meteorite. Our first systematic efforts took place during the 2005-2006 field season; 171 meteorites were recovered during work hampered by significant fresh snow.   The field team will establish a central base camp and then begin systematic recovery of meteorite specimens through overlapping transect searches of exposed blue ice.
