Summary:
The ANDRILL project drilled almost 1300 meters into the sea floor at a location near Williams Field.
A major concern during the drilling operation was that the riser pipe would get coupled with the sea ice, as it
fluctuated with the tides. The installation of a GPS system allowed the monitoring of the tidal motions of the
sea ice, and provided a check for their riser instruments. UNAVCO installed the GPS system at the drilled site
and processed the data every day. Additionally, UNAVCO installed a GPS station on the Dailey Is (Figure 12),
which will be used as a base for next season's drilling project.
