2016 UNAVCO Science Workshop - Field Trips

Field Trips - Wednesday, March 30, 2016

UNAVCO has two concurrent field trips planned. Buses will depart at 1:15pm and will arrive back at the hotel around 4:30pm.

Option 1 - Red Rocks/Dinosaur Ridge
Option 2 - UNAVCO Facility Tour

If you are interested for either field trip, please sign up on the registration page

Red Rocks/Dinosaur Ridge

Dinosaurs, oceans, and rock stars, oh my! Come explore the forces that have made the Front Range what it is today, with discussions of past environments, tectonic processes, and modern-day motion--or lack thereof. Ancient inland seas deposited our iconic red sandstones that tilted up to form the Flatirons and amongst which some of the most famous musicians of the world have played, at Red Rocks. The field trip will take participants to this natural amphitheater, to a colorful roadcut for a walk through time, and to Dinosaur Ridge to explore one of the world's most famous dinosaur fossil localities. Please make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, and a jacket.

All Red Rocks/Dinosaur Ridge participants (self-supported and funded) will be required to pay the Field Trip fee of $25.00.

UNAVCO Facility Tour

This tour will highlight the engineering, equipment and data archive facilities and infrastructure in the UNAVCO Boulder office. There is no fee associated with this Tour
