Appendix C. Boulder Facility Data Management and Archive Support

GPS data management includes all activities necessary to ensure that high-quality GPS data and its accompanying metadata (descriptive data) are collected, transported, organized and safely stored in designated GPS archives, and then made readily available to the GPS research community. The UNAVCO Boulder Data Management and Archiving Group (DMAG) ensures that project data from NSF-funded episodic and permanent station GPS investigations are successfully retrieved, transferred to the Archive, and preserved for the long-term by providing the necessary services, software capability and facilities. The focus of this activity is support to individual investigator projects and regional networks. DMAG staff work closely with investigators to ensure that data are transferred to the Archive. For permanent stations, staff assist in the installation and support of UNAVCO's automated downloading software scripts and data transfer programs.

A summary of FY97 activities and planned FY98 work are provided below.
