UNAVCO helps coordinate community field activities, hardware, and data requests following an earthquake or other notable event (see our Event Response Policy).

Our online discussion forum provides community communication and coordination in response to these events. Please use our forum instead of e-mail, so that we can keep communications centralized. If you do not see an Event Response listed here and would like to see initiate a formal response, email event_responseATunavco.org. A formal UNAVCO response for an event includes having UNAVCO equipment at the ready, gathering high-rate data sets, a discussion forum, and a highlight page showing community effort.

Acquiring New Data Post Event

In response to an event, community members are welcome to request support from UNAVCO for the following:
  • Campaign GPS Systems and/or Field Engineer Support.
  • LiDAR (Terrestrial and Airborne) hardware, data acquisition support and coordination.
  • Coordination of InSAR satellite tasking (under the auspices of WInSAR).
  • Laser Strainmeter, Borehole Strainmeter, Tiltmeter and Borehole Seismometer installations.
  • Planning, permitting and installation of new permanent GPS stations.
  • Education and Outreach Support.
  • General event information.
