The enclosed report details the activities and accomplishments of the University Navstar Consortium (UNAVCO) Facilities for FY97 in fulfillment of the requirement to submit an Annual Progress Report and Budget to the National Science Foundation (NSF), Division of Earth Sciences (EAR), Instrumentation and Facilities (IF) Program as specified in the UNAVCO award letter of November 4, 1996. As the second submission under this requirement, the enclosed report covers activities supported in FY97, a projection of activities for FY98, and the respective yearly budgets. The FY96 report was retrospective and provided considerable background material important to a complete understanding of the UNAVCO Facilities support role to the NSF GPS research community. The FY96 report can be viewed on the UNAVCO Web site. As the primary role of UNAVCO is to support science, a list of 1996/1997 references contributed by UNAVCO-supported investigators that depended on, or benefited from, Facility support is provided as Appendix A.
