UNAVCO installs and operates continuous Global Positioning System (cGPS) stations on behalf of Principal Investgators (PIs) around the world. Our PI stations provide raw GPS data, possibly other measurements like meteorology, time series of daily positions, as well as a station velocity field to support a broad range of geoscience investigations.
Station meta data for PI stations are maintained by UNAVCO engineers and stored within a UNAVCO production database through the internal tool known as MDM. Additionally, some meta data is extracted from files generated by equipment located at the station. All meta data displayed within PI station pages is retrieved from this production database.
