Event Summary

A Mw 6.5 earthquake occurred at 02:28:24 UTC on November 13, 2017 (20:28:24 November 12, 2017 local), 16km SE of Jacó, Costa Rica. For more information, see the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program event page.


UNAVCO Response

GPS Data
UNAVCO downloaded high-rate 5-sps (5 Hz) GPS/GNSS data from 17 stations in response to the M6.5 earthquake 16km SE of Jacó, Costa Rica, on 2017-11-13 (Figure 2). Stations downloaded include seven COCONet stations and additional stations operated by OVSICORI, within 350 km of the earthquake's epicenter. Date were downloaded for a ±1.5-hour period around the event (3 hours total, from 01:00-03:59 UTC). These data are available from the UNAVCO high rate data page. Note: Five of these stations stream data in real time: QSEC, IND1, VERA, CN20, CN30, and MANA; to request access to these and other RT-GPS stations operated by UNAVCO please send an email request to rtgpsunavco.org.
