Goals

Participants will improve their instruction in geoscience and geodesy, as well as meet other like-minded educators and develop networks within the geoscience education community.

Participants will be part of an education-focused cohort working to improve instruction of geosciences and geodesy in higher education. Participants will attend 2.5 days of the Earth Educators’ Rendezvous (EER) (Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, and Friday) including UNAVCO sponsored and led communications workshop and GETSI mini-workshop. Eligible participants are UNAVCO Community members who are any of the following:

  • Late stage PhD student intending to pursue a faculty position (within 2 years of degree completion)
  • Post-doctoral professional with the intent to pursue a faculty position
  • Early career faculty (within 10 years of terminal degree)

Participation requirements:

  • Must be able to participate in 2.5 days of the EER (July 18 pm, 19, and 20)
  • Must participate in an introductory pre-meeting webinar (to be scheduled for early June)
  • Must participate in follow up communication (to be scheduled for early September)

Travel and Costs

Covered expenses include air travel to Lawrence, ground transportation from Kansas City International Airport, shared housing, and per diem. A 3-day registration to the meeting will be provided. Participants intending to attend additional days of the meeting will be responsible for any associated costs.
