NSF policy stipulates grantee responsibility for assuring acknowledgment of material based on or developed with NSF support in any publication, including web pages. In addition, NSF requires oral acknowledgment during all news media interviews. In some cases, the grants of UNAVCO community members or other data providers must also be cited or the disclaimer is also required. Your acknowledgment of UNAVCO support also provides a measure UNAVCO's success.

Attribution of GNSS data retrieved from UNAVCO holdings:

Data provider contact information accompanies data holdings, so that users can acquire appropriate attribution information and assure ethical use. Professional standards for co-authorship, citation, or acknowledgment are established by professional organizations (e.g., http://www.agu.org/pubs/pubs_guidelines.html, http://www.geosociety.org/pubs/ethics.htm , and references therein). Some publishers provide for formal referencing of unpublished data sets held in national archives such as UNAVCO’s (e.g., http://www.agu.org/pubs/data_policy.html). In addition, for unpublished data, NSF requires acknowledgment of the originating grant following the format stipulated by the NSF Grant Proposal Guide <>.

(NOTE: UNAVCO tracks data provider and sponsor information, but not specific grant numbers and publications. Data users must contact the data provider for such information.)

Data provider name, institution, e-mail, and sponsor can be found on UNAVCO's Data Archive Interface web pages. In some cases, RINEX file headers also contain this information. Upon request to archive@unavco.org, the UNAVCO Facility can produce a list of all data providers for large combined data sets.

To acknowledge support or data products from the UNAVCO Facility:
