Mini-Workshop: Teaching Geophysics at the College Level

Monday, March 10, 2:00 pm to 6 pm.

Organized by Shimon Wdowinski, Andy Newman, Seth Stein, and Susan Eriksson

Join other faculty in discussing the teaching of modern geodesy and all its associated science in a follow-up to the summer NAGT course “Teaching Geophysics in the 21st Century”, http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/geophysics07/overview.html. Members of our community will lead discussions based on topics from the 4 day NAGT workshop such as

  • designing effective assignments and activities including rubrics for evaluating the quality of an assignment,
  • reviewing your own activities
  • sharing participants’ teaching/learning materials, and
  • learning what UNAVCO is doing in the college-level E&O activities

Fly in on Monday morning and spend 4 hours with your teaching colleagues prior to the formal meeting which starts on Tuesday morning. Refreshments will be provided.
